Download Honolulu Star Bulletin article 8/18/09 re: the Kalamaku program BIG ISLAND – KALAMAKU: Kalamaku meets the fourth Sunday of every month from 10:00am-2:00pm. Located in a sheltered cove in the middle of Kona town next to the King Kamehameha Hotel, it provides an easy location to launch canoes. Kona’s calm seas and deep, blue ocean makes it a beautiful location for adaptive paddlers. Participants enjoys a day at the beach and can participate in paddling, swimming, or playing in the sand with beach toys. Canoes, paddles, safety equipment & life vests, boogie boards and beach toys are provided. For the safety of all participants, paddlers will be asked to sign a waiver.
